Brazil 2020/21 Coffee Survey

All easy crop surveys are all alike; each difficult crop survey is difficult in its own way. For Rabobank’s latest Brazil coffee crop survey, we had to venture into farms under heavy rainfall of up to 170mm a day, inches of mud, and flooded roads in order to assess productivity, quality, and disease levels. Here are our results…

- Our Brazil coffee crop survey indicates a 2020/21 crop of 67.5m bags, consisting of 18.5m bags conillon and a record 49m bags of arabica.

- The conillon crop suffered from a higher pruning rate, but disease incidence is low.

- The size of the arabica crop was surprisingly high, given the weather pattern was less than perfect during 2H 2019. Virtually all arabica areas are producing at record or near record levels.
