“Consumers are now expecting more from their out-of-home cup of coffee and are prepared to pay a bit more for it. This is encouraging a growing number of other foodservice operators to incorporate at least some of the elements of specialty coffee bars into their own coffee offering, and they are putting pressure on their suppliers to meet these new needs,” according to Maria Castroviejo, senior beverage analyst.

“New strategies are needed to remain relevant and profitable as a supplier to the highly fragmented and competitive out-of-home coffee business.”
