Australian tree nut outlook: Opportunities and risks in almonds and macadamias

The Australian tree nut industry will continue to grow as almond and macadamia orchards reach maturity over the next few years, expanding production. With this comes opportunities to meet the growing global demand for tree nuts in export markets, particularly in China, and to develop innovative product offerings to increase local demand. In the long term, prices for almonds remain favourable, but risk of water shortfalls will limit further orchard development. For macadamias, increasing global supplies brings risk to the expected recovery in prices. With a high dependence and impact on nature, the Australian tree nut industry can expect future reporting requirements and assessment on nature-related metrics.
