Australia Agribusiness Monthly & Covid-19 Update August 2020

Here are the main highlights for some of Australia’s key commodities. The full report provides an overview of the developments to watch in the upcoming weeks.

Highlights

Covid-19 infections are rising, but government support is helping to underpin food consumption.

Pricing pressure is building on the dairy commodity complex.

Beef prices are softening slightly, but limited supply is still supporting cattle prices. For sheepmeat, prices will stabilise as processors come back online.

E-commerce is expected to play a prominent part in wine sales recovery. And resurgence in Covid-19 in both the US and Australia might subdue import demand for products exposed to foodservice channels across the remainder of 2020.
