Australia Agribusiness Monthly & Covid-19 Update July 2020

Here are the main highlights for some of Australia’s key commodities. The full report provides an overview of the developments to watch in the upcoming weeks.

Highlights

There is downward pressure on wheat prices as Northern Hemisphere harvests pick up pace.

Minimum milk price offers for the 2020/21 season provide a solid platform for farmgate profitability.

Cattle prices are expected to remain strong despite easing US import prices. However, sheepmeat prices may fall further. Although seasonal conditions remain favourable, the drop in saleyard prices might signal that producer demand is easing off, and therefore prices could retreat to more sustainable levels.

Farm inputs are at below-average prices, but favourable seasonal conditions and uninterrupted supply chains will support farmers applying urea this season.
