Chilean Apples: Resilience in a Challenging Industry

Chilean apple production recovered in 2021. However, fresh apple exports will decrease and record their lowest level since 2003. On the other hand, the use of apples in ag-industrial processing will rise in 2021, due to a sharp increase in exports of concentrated juice.

Forecasts for the 2021/22 season’s crop in the major markets are mixed, with a positive outlook in the US, a negative outlook in Europe, and uncertainty in China putting pressure on the exports of fresh apples from Chile in 2022.
